New England vs. Indy: No clash of the Titans

The primetime game slot this week pits the Patriots against the Colts.  What’s usually a marquee game doesn’t appear quite so great anymore.  Last year, at this time, the Patriots were still winning every game, and Indy had only a loss or two.  This year, both teams have fallen off a bit.  The Patriots, as I don’t need to tell you, had their injury to Brady, which made their season look bleak for awhile.  But backup Cassel seems to be holding out particularly well and getting better every week.  The Colts are in a tough spot. In their division are the Titans, who are winning every game and winning it decisively.  The Colts aren’t getting any kind of a break.  Most of their wins are late come-from-behind wins and they’re having trouble beating lesser teams. Peyton Manning just seems out of his element this year, for whatever reason.  Maybe it was his injury during preseason. Who knows. This game will still be good, but not for the same reason that we thought at the beginning of the season.

Patriots Win

The Patriots won yesterday, 23-16, against the St. Louis Rams.  The Pats were very shorthanded, because three of their running backs were on the injury list for the day.  So Kevin Faulk stepped in to take more running plays than usual.  He also caught a 15-yard touchdown pass with about 3 minutes left to go, to put the Patriots ahead once and for all.  But it wasn’t an easy game.. it was very close and it looked like it was going to overtime soon.  Randy Moss made 7 catches for a total of 102 yards.  It was a good game though.  The Pats have a long unbeaten streak against NFC teams at home right now, which they were able to keep going with this win.  Great job Pats!  Read more about this win here.

Preview: Pats v. Rams

Coming off an amazing 41-7 win last week, the Pats are in better shape than anyone would have expected several weeks ago when Tom Brady was carted off the field.  The Patriots were able to stick to a good game plan of stopping the Bronco’s offense and leaking through the holes in their defense.  Matt Cassel has been playing better and better each week, throwing a career-high 3 TD’s last week.  The Pats pass protection hasn’t been quite as good, since Cassel was sacked 6 times in the game.  The offense has generally had some trouble, if only because Cassel is still learning how to manage one as complicated as we have in the NFL these days.

The Rams are no easy target, though.  After starting out 0-4, they replaced their coach and made some more changes and have pulled off big upsets in the last two weeks.  They edged the Redskins by a few points and convincingly took out the Cowboys last week. Both of these teams are getting better by the week, so it should be great game.  Watch it, Sunday at 1pm!

Brady Reports Good

Good news for the Patriots fan base: Tom Brady officially reported on his blog that he has received a second procedure to clean out an infection on his injured left knee that was completely successful. Stating that the infection was caught early, operated on, and that he was given proper antibiotics to help stave off further infection, Brady is confident that his knee will be returning to normal. Just not in time for this year’s football season. Expect a lot of fire from him next season. Visit the NFL’s website to learn more about the New England Patriots.

Patriots on the Big Stage

The New England Patriots have a chance to reassert themselves in the eyes of the national public this Monday night when they get a chance to beat the Denver Broncos on national television. It will either add or relieve pressure knowing that the game will be played in their home arena Foxborough Stadium, and they certainly don’t want to disappoint fans. The Patriots will definitely want to win this game for two reasons: to show that they can still perform as one of the premiere teams, as well as not slip into a .500 record.

Pats look Miserable

Completely dominated by the San Diego Chargers in every facet of Sunday night’s game, the New England Patriots looked nothing like the dominant team of years past.  The final score of 30-10 does not tell the full story on how impressive the Chargers looked. Nonetheless, the Patriots need to figure out a way to return to their Super Bowl form. While Brady was a huge part of that team, he wasn’t the whole team. Are the Patriots all Charged up?

The Patriots will be playing the San Diego Chargers this upcoming Sunday, Oct. 12th. The Chargers stand at a two wins and three losses compared to the Patriot’s three wins and one loss. Though records are good, they fall short for intimidation. Plus the Patriots have to improve their defense; right now it’s mediocre at best. The Chargers will nonetheless have trouble trying to make long passes, so they will probably be sticking to the run plays.

Pats doing great!

The New England Patriots are doing great. Having just come off bye week, the team is playing well. The Pats had a wonderful game against the San Francisco 49ers. The Pats won with a 30 to 21 victory. The Patriots will have to continue winning to secure the AFC. The season is still young and it is too early to tell how tings will shape up, but getting wins is a good way to play it safe.

Back on the Field

The New England Patriot will be playing against San Francisco 49ers this Sunday. This will be the fourth time that the two teams will play one another. More interestingly, this will be the first time since the two teams have seen each other on the same football field since 1995. The Patriots are also coming off a bye week. Maybe the extra week off helped the Patriots strength their game play and gave its player enough rest to make Sunday’s game a fun one to watch.
