Big Battle Tonight

We see that the big Monday Night Football game this week is well-chosen. We’ve had some dull ones over the last couple of weeks, but New Orleans against New England (a battle of the New’s) will be fantastic. Drew Brees has led his team in the way Tom Brady did a couple of years ago. Brady is still very strong and Brees has his team at no losses so far this season. No matter how the game goes, there will be no shocking end to this game. I think that the Pats are on target for a huge upset though, because they have been consistently getting better. According to some commentators, New Orleans isn’t as good as they were around Week 3, while the Patriots have been getting into their rhythm over the last few weeks. Expect an amazing game this evening!

Big Battle On Sunday

When you think of a tough football game, you will immediately think of the upcoming battle. In fact, this one might even be put in the dictionary. The undefeated New Orleans Saints will be taking on the New England Patriots in a huge competition. While they don’t have to play one another in the conference, the Patriots might be trying to keep their undefeated record intact from a couple years ago. Meanwhile, the Saints would get a huge boost if they take out Patriots. The Superdome is going to be rocking that night and it will be one of the most exciting games that we’ve seen in a long time. Drew Brees versus Tom Brady? This is a battle of the Titans this year and you should make sure your TIVO is set, if you aren’t going to watch it live!

Win Against the Jets

The Patriots made up for their rather embarrassing final loss last week with a convincing win over the Jets. While the Jets started out the year very well, they have been outplayed in most of their last games, with Mark Sanchez just not keeping them moving the way that they need to be. He will be better, but he’s a future prospect, who will need much development. For the time being, the Patriots remain in control of the Division, having won strongly on Sunday. There is a small controversy right now about whether Brady was insulting the Jets with his long pass attempt to Randy Moss at the end of a 31-14 win, when they clearly didn’t have anything to win or lose. For some people, that feels like they’re just running up the score for fun. It wasn’t successful, so it doesn’t actually matter much in the end, but it was the kind of ending that the Jets didn’t like much. Important point, though, Patriots are at the top again!

Upcoming: Jets

The New York Jets started out as the unbeatable team. Matt Sanchez was at the top of his game at the beginning of the season. In the last month or so, the team has performed decently, but not up to their top potential. As a result, the Pats thought they were in trouble and then turned out not to be. They are ahead in the division, though the Dolphins are doing surprisingly well. This weekend the rivalry continues, as the Jets and Pats go head to head. Sanchez is still a tough competitor, but he hasn’t been able to get the support that he once had. Just a few weeks to go, and a divisional win would be a boon for the Patriots this week!

Oops

Well, the Patriots almost had it won. They were trying to keep the Colts from remaining undefeated the entire season so far. They even had a lead of 6 with 2 minutes to go. Then the Coach decided to use his last timeout and then go for it on 4th down. Deep in his own territory. What happened will be replaying for the next week on ESPN and other outlets. Brady and Faulk were unable to get the needed yards and surrendered their possession of the ball deep in their own field. In typical fashion, Peyton Manning drove his team for the touchdown and took the lead that they needed to stay undefeated at 9-0. Let the discussions of their strength begin, whether they are as good as the 07 Pats or the other things. But let’s see if they can beat New England in the postseason when we get to see them again!

Game of the Week

A classic battle of the bigwigs happens in the NFL this weekend with the Patriots vs Colts taking center stage. It has been awhile since they last played one another, but they look like they’re ready to go. The Colts haven’t lost a game all season and are expecting to ride all the way to the playoffs. With teams like the Texans and Titans in their division, we shouldn’t be surprised if they make it to the playoffs. But the Patriots have a strong division and have been largely successful this year. We can take a good strong lead in the division if we win this game, and there’s no reason we can’t. Although the game is at that loud dome in Indy, it appears that Tom Brady will be ready to win. At the very least, the game should be very hard-fought and exciting.

Watch out Pats

When the Patriots play the Dolphins this upcoming week, we’re going to have to watch for that trick play that they used so effectively against us last season. The Dolphins seem to make great use of the Wildcat formation and it’s going to be interesting to see if we fall for it. After all, it’s not usually on the most-drilled formations for the defense and an offense only knows it if they might have a chance to use it. The Patriots didn’t have an answer for it in the first game between these two teams last season. In the second game, we were able to stop it well. This season, with everyone back on the roster and prior knowledge, I can’t imagine that this is going to be a real issue for them. But stranger things have happened, especially in this division. It’ll undoubtedly be a fun game anyhow.
