QB interesting news

So, the two Patriots QBs have been in the news again. Number 1, lets just get this out of the way, Matt Cassel has moved on. He will be playing with the Kansas City Chiefs next year and everyone seems to be fine with it. This suggests that there are no expectations of difficulties with Brady’s knee or anything like that. News number 2: Brady himself has “a new knee and a new wife”. He married his long-time girlfriend, Gisele Bundchen, last week while he was recuperating from his surgery. We wish them well and hope that the recuperation goes very well too!

Cassel to be Shopped

Matt Cassel is still all the news in the Patriots world right now. Who would’ve thought that this player was going to be the biggest discussion piece in the offseason section of the year in 2009? Apparently, with Cassel in their pen, there are two possibilities: Cassel might be on the way for another season, or part of another season, if Tom Brady is behind on his rehab. But if Brady is back, perhaps Cassel will be the biggest QB on the market, especially if Mr Warner stays in Arizona. It’s a great move by New England, it seems, even though they have a large chunk of their salary cap in quarterbacks right now.

Preview: Pats v. Rams

Coming off an amazing 41-7 win last week, the Pats are in better shape than anyone would have expected several weeks ago when Tom Brady was carted off the field.  The Patriots were able to stick to a good game plan of stopping the Bronco’s offense and leaking through the holes in their defense.  Matt Cassel has been playing better and better each week, throwing a career-high 3 TD’s last week.  The Pats pass protection hasn’t been quite as good, since Cassel was sacked 6 times in the game.  The offense has generally had some trouble, if only because Cassel is still learning how to manage one as complicated as we have in the NFL these days.

The Rams are no easy target, though.  After starting out 0-4, they replaced their coach and made some more changes and have pulled off big upsets in the last two weeks.  They edged the Redskins by a few points and convincingly took out the Cowboys last week. Both of these teams are getting better by the week, so it should be great game.  Watch it, Sunday at 1pm!
