Joey Porter, who is a linebacker with the Miami Dolphins, have gone public with his claims that the Patriots are a bunch of cheats. He slams the team for taping the Pittsburgh Steelers’ game play and implied that they won the championships through dishonest means. Porter was also quick to accuse the NFL for destroying the Spygate tapes and thus, eradicating the evidence. He was angry because prior to joining the Dolphins, he was a loyal Steelers team player and was not happy that this controversy that happened during the 2002 AFC tournaments. The NFL refused to comment about his accusations.

It seems Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter is bent on investigating the Patriots’ illegal taping of defensive signals.  Specter and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell are set to meet today, Feb 13 2008, to talk about what is now popularly known as “Spygate.”  The meeting will be held in Senator Specter’s office.  Foremost in their discussion would be about the destruction of the videotapes confiscated from the Patriots during the investigation.  It was Goodell who authorized the tapes to be destroyed.

Coach Bill Belichick was fined $500,000.  The Patriots’ first-round pick for this April’s draft was also taken.  Specter likened Goodell’s consenting to destroy the tapes to the CIA destroying interrogation tapes.  He added that the commissioner could be called to appear before the Judiciary Committee to justify his actions.

The NFL went under more fire as the Boston Herald revealed through an anonymous source that the Patriots taped the St. Louis Rams’ practice before Super Bowl XXXVI, which the Patriots won 20-17.  Matt Walsh, Patriots’ former video assistant, adds more injury to New England by disclosing that he could show evidence that would bring even more damage to the team.  Goodell continues to defend the NFL’s stand regarding the Spygate issue, saying that destroying the tapes was a way to make sure that the Patriots had surrendered all evidence to him.  Patriots fans are still having mixed reactions about the issue.
